Episode 36- Bonus Mini Episode: The Guide to Embrace Change and Learning for Ourselves and Our Kids

Listen Here!

**Introduction**

Hi conscious parents! We’re thrilled to dive into today’s discussion about fostering an enduring love of learning in our children. Learning doesn’t stop at adulthood or after graduation. It’s about continuously nurturing curiosity and growth, a cornerstone of living consciously and raising a conscious family. Let’s explore how we can model this joy of learning for our children and why it’s so essential to our lives.

**The Joy of Exploration and Growth**

Conscious living is all about growing together, exploring the world, and learning as a family. It involves stepping out of our comfort zones, even when it’s tempting to spend a Saturday morning watching a home renovation show. When we challenge ourselves and step into new experiences, we develop the best versions of ourselves—learning, growing, and trying new things. By living this way, we lead by example, encouraging our children to embrace life’s adventures.

**Modeling a Lifelong Love of Learning**

Our actions speak volumes to our kids. It’s about living and breathing examples of lifelong learning. If we’re not enthusiastic about learning ourselves and instead just repeating, “go out there and learn,” we’re missing out on sharing the excitement of human experiences. This involves everything from developing new skills to exploring spiritual growth, encouraging open-mindedness, and trying new things, no matter how challenging they might seem.

**Teaching the Value of Unforced Learning**

It’s crucial for children to experience the joy of discovery without the pressure of forcing knowledge upon them. Many people resist such pressure, especially when it comes to sensitive topics like spirituality or religion. When something is imposed, it can lead to reluctance or fear, hindering heartfelt connection and growth. Instead, fostering a loving environment where learning is natural and enjoyable helps children develop a genuine passion for it.

**Inspiring Adventure and Midlife Exploration**

Even in midlife, we must embrace adventure and new experiences. This phase doesn’t mean the end of learning or excitement. My husband and I, for example, still love adventure. We shared an unforgettable trip to Kauai with our children, who now view it as more exciting than Disneyland! Such experiences emphasize that adventure and learning don’t stop with age.

**Instilling Confidence Through New Opportunities**

Activities like Cub Scouts for my son empower him as he tries different things, helps the community, and participates in parades—building his confidence all the while. If you have opportunities to try new activities with your kids, seize them! These experiences are not only enriching but also contribute significantly to children’s self-esteem and growth.

**Weekly Challenge: Share the Love of Learning**

This week, I challenge you to share your love of learning with your children. It doesn’t have to be grand—there’s beauty in simplicity. Whether it’s reading an inspiring non-fiction book or learning a new skill, demonstrate that learning is a lifelong pursuit filled with joy and adventure.
